Lily Allen decided to bring out a special guest for her ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance on December 13th. Allen, 40, was the musical guest and sang ‘Madeline’ from her newest album, West End Girl. The show was hosted by actor Josh O’Connor.
The performance, which included a surprise cameo from actress Dakota Johnson, is being regarded as one of the best musical numbers of the season.
Fans took to Instagram to share their excitement that Johnson, 36, joined Allen on stage to play Madeline. Johnson initially appeared behind a curtain, but the camera later cut to reveal her lying on a bed in black lingerie. She eventually made her way over to Allen, giving her a kiss on the cheek. They ended the performance with a sweet embrace and were both all smiles.
While it’s unknown how long the actress and singer have been friends, her appearance made it clear she’s standing in solidarity with Allen amidst this tumultuous time in her life.
Although there’s been some speculation about who Madeline really is, Allen admitted that she’s a “fictional” character and doesn’t represent one specific person. These comments came after a whirlwind of press surrounding her album, in which she details the breakdown of her relationship and eventual divorce from David Harbour.
The album contains multiple allegations of infidelity and negative accusations against Harbour, whom she credits with the downfall of their marriage. It also details her struggle with grief and confusion over the end of their relationship.
Allen and Harbour, 50, were married for four years before separating in February 2025, and have no children together. He was the stepfather to Allen’s two children, Ethel Mary and Marnie Rose, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
