The late actor left for Rajneesh Osho’s Ashram right at the peak of his career in 1982 and made a historic comeback at the movies with Insaaf and Satyamev Jayate in 1987.  And his son who’s the man of the moment currently spoke about it in an interview with Mid-day in 2019.

Akshaye was quoted saying, “To not only leave his family, but to take ‘sanyaas’ (renunciation). Sanyaas means giving up your life in totality — family is [only] a part of it. It’s a life-changing decision, which he felt that he needed to take at the time. As a five-year-old, it was impossible [for me] to understand it. I can understand it now.”

The
_Dhurandhar_ star added, ““Something must have moved him so deeply inside that he felt that that kind of decision was worth it for him. Especially when you have everything in life. A very basic fault line/earthquake has to occur within oneself to make that decision. But also stick by it. One can make the decision and say this doesn’t suit me — let’s go back. But that didn’t happen.”

The recluse star is getting immense praise for his restrained and remarkable performance as Rehman Dakait. And amid the success that he deserves, the actor performed a Vastu Shanti Hawan at his Alibaug home for peace and prosperity.

The ritual was shared on Instagram by priest Shivam Mhatre, who wrote in Marathi, “I had the fortune of performing a traditional and devotional puja at actor Akshaye Khanna’s residence. His calm nature, simplicity, and positive energy made the experience truly special.”
