After it was announced last week that Nina Dobrev and Shaun White would be ending their engagement after five years together, a source close to the actress reveals why she’s “devastated” about the split.
“Nina is devastated,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They had finally started planning the wedding and things were in motion.”

While the breakup is “still very fresh,” they added that Dobrev is being “supported by her closest girlfriends, who have been checking in on her.”
On Thursday, People confirmed that Dobrev and White had called it quits.

“It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” a source told the outlet.
Reps for Dobrev and White did not immediately respond to InStyle’s request for comment.
In October 2024, Dobrev announced her engagement to White on Instagram with photos of the special moment, along with a cheeky caption.
“RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé 💍♾️,” the Vampire Diaries star wrote.
The two first met back in 2012 and reconnected again in 2019 during a workshop organized by Tony Robbins. In early 2020, the actress and Olympic snowboarder sparked dating rumors after posting separately on a South African safari. In April 2020, they hard-launched their relationship with a video of Dobrev washing groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
