One of Slow Horses’ most memorable supporting players has quietly resurfaced in a new crime thriller that’s quickly becoming a word-of-mouth hit — and it’s the kind of show you accidentally finish in a single night. While Apple TV’s Slow Horses has built a reputation as one of the sharpest spy series on television, its rotating ensemble has also become a launching pad for actors stepping into standout projects elsewhere. One of those is Aimee-Ffion Edwards, who plays the volatile and razor-sharp Shirley Dander across Seasons 2 through 5 of the espionage hit. Now, Edwards is front and center in The Revenge Club, a compact six-episode crime thriller that’s quietly climbing the charts on Paramount+.
Released on December 12 exclusively in the UK and Ireland, The Revenge Club has flown largely under the radar — but it’s already making noise for all the right reasons. Based on J.D. Pennington’s novel The Othello Club, the series currently boasts a perfect 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, instantly marking it as something worth paying attention to. A wider international release hasn’t been announced yet, but interest is clearly building.
What Is ‘The Revenge Club’ About?
In the series, Edwards stars as Emily Hunter, one of several strangers brought together through a support group for divorced people. Each member arrives carrying their own emotional baggage — betrayal, resentment, unresolved grief — and, crucially, someone they believe deserves payback. What starts as a space for healing quickly transforms into something far more dangerous when the group decides to stop talking about their pain and start acting on it.
That’s where The Revenge Club really finds its groove. The show leans into dark humor early, balancing sharp dialogue with increasingly risky decisions. Small acts of retaliation escalate episode by episode, evolving from cathartic pranks into a tightly wound crime thriller filled with secrets, shifting alliances, and lethal consequences. It’s fast, punchy, and knows exactly when to yank the rug out from under both its characters and the audience. At just six episodes, The Revenge Club never overstays its welcome, and each chapter ends with the kind of cliffhanger that dares you not to click “next.”
So, given that it’s about to be New Year, why not try out a new series as well? Give it a go, you might like it.
For now, The Revenge Club is streaming on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland.
