A footpath running alongside a river has been closed after “active erosion” was discovered along the riverbank. Natural Resources Wales said erosion had been discovered along the bank of the River Elwy at Llanfair Talhaiarn in Conwy.
A spokesperson said it was discovered on the riverbank near the Black Lion pub. A spokesperson said: “To protect public safety, and following discussions with Conwy County Borough Council, the adjacent footpath has been closed due to the risk to pedestrians.
“We are exploring both short-term measures and long-term solutions to reinforce the riverbank and reduce future risks to the footpath and flood embankment.
“In the meantime, inspection frequency within the village has been increased to monitor the situation.
“If you notice any significant incidents or have concerns regarding the flood embankment, please contact our 24-hour hotline on 0300 065 3000.” Join the North Wales Live WhatsApp community group where you can get the latest stories delivered straight to your phone
