A Saint John man got an early Christmas present, claiming a Maxmillions prize from the Dec. 19 Lotto Max draw.
Jacob Tanasichuk discovered the big win when he checked his ticket with Atlantic Lottery’s mobile app the next morning.
The app displayed a message saying he was a major winner, but he still went to his regular retailer to confirm.
“She said, ‘Do you know how much money you won?’ and I said no,” Tanasichuk said. “Then she said, ‘You won $1 million.’ ”
Tanasichuk said he plans to share his winnings with his children.
He said he doesn’t have many plans for himself, he does hope to buy a vintage care, something he’s always dreamed of.
The winning ticket was purchased at Scholten’s Somerset in Saint John.
