Dubai: Malayalam film star Nivin Pauly has stated that he is not in favour of producers publicly releasing profit and loss statements for films. He expressed his personal opinion on the matter while speaking to journalists in Dubai during the promotion of his new film, Sarvam Maya.

“Making good films is what matters. I still don’t understand why these figures are being made public. This was not a practice before,” Nivin said. He added that such disclosures could discourage new investors from entering the industry, as they may be deterred by the public scrutiny of profits and losses.

“In any business, there will be profits and losses. However, there is no need to release all of this. I believe everyone should come together to move the Malayalam film industry forward,” he said.

The press conference was also attended by Sarvam Maya director Akhil Sathyan, actress Riyashibu, producer Rajeev Menon, and Kannan Ravi.
