It could have been amusing to watch the back-and-forth between Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and Donald Trump’s administration over the Israeli attack in Qatar last week, as the two sides tried to agree on a coherent version about what exactly happened in the hours preceding the Doha airstrike. But because lives are on the line, there’s nothing funny about this public argument, which is the latest example of Netanyahu and his team making a mockery of the U.S. president – and not paying any price for it.
