Polls have closed across the province in the 2025 municipal election.
All municipalities, with the exception of St. John’s, elected members on the fixed date. The capital city moved its election date to October 8th, due to the Canada Post strike.

It was not to be as the Dodgers rallied off closer Jeff Hoffman to win game seven of the World Series in extra innings.
Toronto led for most of the night but Los Angeles came alive late to claim their third title in six years.
It caps off a miracle season for Toronto, but MVP Yamamoto proved too much.

Three Newfoundlanders who were detained by Israeli forces have been released.
Sadie Mees, Nikita Stapleton, and Devony Ellis were on what they called a “freedom flotilla” to Gaza and were detained earlier this week before making landfall.
Provincial and federal government officials worked to free the three students, who say they were bringing “aid and hope” to people.
