Star Wars fans, gear up: the Bad Batch is back. The beloved clone squad returns for a new adventure, one that appears set to pit them against a totally unexpected adversary. Rogue Agents will force the team to face-off against another group of clones, whose presence they didn’t anticipate.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Rogue Agents #1 is written by Michael Moreci, with art by Reese Hannigan. The synopsis for the issue teases that the unit’s “mission will be different than any they’ve faced before!”
If the preview pages are to be believed, that means clone vs. clone action, with the big question being “why?”
The Bad Batch Returns, But Their Latest Mission Is About To Put Them In A Tricky Situation

Here is the full synopsis for the new Bad Batch comic:
When a Separatist scientist and his dangerous invention go missing during the Clone Wars, Clone Force 99 is sent to track him down and prevent the device from falling into the wrong hands. But when Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech arrive at the scientist’s abandoned laboratory, they quickly realize that they aren’t the only ones on his trail, and that this mission will be different than any they’ve faced before!
The preview pages for Rogue Agent #1 start with the “Separatist scientist” in question. He attempts to turn on his invention, which is off-panel, leaving it a mystery to the reader for now. Then there is a spectacular explosion, and the scientist cries out in dismay.
After that, the action jumps two days into the future, with the Bad Batch doing what they do best: destroying Separatist battle droids. However, things quickly get complicated when the squad realizes that a group of incoming targets aren’t more droids. Instead, they’re more clones, setting up a second mystery for Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Rogue Agents #1.
In “Rogue Agents,” The Bad Batch Is Going To Get Wrapped Up In A New Prequel-Era Mystery
The Bad Batch Are About To Get Into Their Worst Trouble Yet

There are two possible explanations for the arrival of this second group of clones in the Rogue Agent preview. The first has far-reaching implications: that the Separatists have commandeered, or compromised, their own “bad” batch of clones. The other, equally ominous option, is that someone within the Republic has sent them on an unsanctioned mission.
That could be the “rogue agent” of the title. In any case, the series is teasing potential clone vs. clone combat in its first issue. Where it goes from there remains TBD, but the Bad Batch being back in action is a great thing for Star Wars fans as the franchise seeks to have a rebound year in 2026.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – The Bad Batch: Rogue Agents #1 will be available December 31, 2025 from Dark Horse Comics.
