Give Carly Rae Jepsen a sword hockey stick. Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney hasn’t started writing season 2 yet, but he is already thinking about needle drops. “I have a list of dream songs that I would like very much to find a way [to include],” he said on hockey podcast What Chaos! Host DJ Bean asked if on that list was “a Canadian artist whose name rhymes with Barley May Bepsen?” To which Tierney responded, no. But also, maybe, yes? “I didn’t even try. But I will next time,” he said. “She was on my playlist for when I wrote. She was on my playlist for sure, and I will definitely be asking next time.”

Tierney said a CRJ track wasn’t in the budget for Heated Rivalry season 1. But now that all eyes are on the boy aquarium, perhaps there’s even cash for a new song from Jepsen. “I was even gonna ask her to write a new song, that’s what I was gonna do,” he said. “I was gonna be like, ‘Is there a world in which you’d like to do a new song?’” Timing might also have been a factor, as Jepsen got married this year and is currently pregnant. But if she doesn’t have time/Crave doesn’t have money for a new song, What Chaos’ Pete Blackburn has a workaround: “Just get her to release ‘Disco Darling’ instead.’
