TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State women’s basketball team held off Oral Roberts for a 76-68 win to open Summit League play on Thursday night at Mabee Center in front of 2,178 fans.
With the win, NDSU improves to 12-2 (1-0 Summit) on the season and extends its win streak to 10 games. It also marks the first win in Tulsa for the Bison since 2009 and fourth straight win to open Summit League play.
After NDSU led by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter, Oral Roberts (7-7, 0-1 Summit) used a late 7-2 run to cut the deficit down to single digits, 70-66, after Azailah Funches drained a free throw with 53 seconds to play. The Bison responded to close the contest shooting 6-of-6 from the free throw line, including four from Marisa Frost to help seal the 76-68 road win.
Abby Krzewinski netted a season-best 17 points and tied a career-best four triples, while Karrington Asp also posted 17 points with nine rebounds and a season-high four blocks. Avery Koenen logged her ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Frost also reached double digits in scoring with 14 points and four rebounds.
As a team, the Bison 42.6 percent (23-54) from the field and 79.3 percent (23-29) from the free throw line. NDSU also hauled in 44 rebounds with nine players grabbing at least one in comparison to the Golden Eagles’ 32.
NDSU will continue its road swing at Denver on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. CT
