Amanda Seyfried was a little confused as to why Timothée Chalamet thanked his partner, Kylie Jenner, for their “foundation” during his acceptance speech at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night.

Chalamet gave a special shout-out to his girlfriend, whom he began dating in 2023, while receiving the award for Best Actor for his performance in Josh Safdie’s ping-pong drama Marty Supreme

“And lastly, I’ll just say, thank you to my partner of three years,” the 30-year-old actor declared on stage. “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

However, Chalamet’s word choice appears to have inadvertently tripped Seyfried up along the way.

Reacting to his speech in an Instagram post, the Testament of Ann Lee actress commented, “OH not like a foundation/charity I was curious about that.”

Chalamet wasn’t referring to an official charity set up by him and Jenner, but rather their strong foundation as a couple. The televised broadcast of the ceremony also made clear who the Dune actor was referring to when it cut to Jenner after his remarks, and she mouthed “I love you” back to him in response.

Over the last three years, Chalamet and Jenner have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Still, the couple have made appearances together at the 2023 U.S. Open, the 2024 Golden Globes, and most recently at the Marty Supreme premiere in Los Angeles (dressed, naturally, in matching orange outfits to evoke the film’s ping-pong balls).

And they don’t seem interested in changing that dynamic up anytime soon, with Chalamet declining to discuss his relationship with Jenner in a recent Vogue profile. “I don’t say that with any fear,” he told the outlet in November. “I just don’t have anything to say.”

Jenner, who shares two children with ex Travis Scott, has similarly stayed mum when asked about their romance. “Privacy is so important to me in life,” she told British Vogue in 2024. “It feels so good.”
