Garmin just released its latest solar powered smarwatch, the Instinct 2 Solar, which is designed to stay charged on your wrist forever during outdoor use.

According to Garmin, the Instinct 2 Solar requires around three hours of maximum sunlight per day while worn. This capability aims to remove one of the main limitations of smartwatches, particularly for users who spend extended time outdoors or away from power sources.

Despite its simple appearance, the Instinct 2 Solar includes a broad set of features. It tracks a range of health and fitness metrics and supports standard smartwatch functions such as notifications from a connected smartphone. The watch also features Garmin Pay, enabling users to make contactless payments at supported terminals without needing a wallet.

The Instinct 2 Solar features multiple sensors for location tracking, designed to assist users in navigating both urban environments and remote areas. These tools are intended to keep users on course during outdoor activities. In situations where users may need assistance, the watch can also send out a call for help when a signal is available.

With its focus on long battery life, navigation tools, and core smartwatch features, the Garmin Instinct 2 Solar targets users who prioritize reliability and extended use over advanced visual design. The watch is currently listed at a price of $225.
