HONOLULU – A record-tying five University of Hawai’i football players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Among the Rainbow Warriors who earned the distinction were Jackson Harris, Kansei Matsuzawa, Aiden McComber, Josh Sagapolutele and Landon Sims
UH last had five such honorees in 2022. It also marked the second straight year that Matsuzawa and Sims earned academic all-district honors.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have either competed in 90 percent of the team’s contests or started in at least 66 percent of the games.
Jackson Harris, So., Wide Receiver, Palo Alto, Calif.
A psychology major…named to the all-Mountain West first team…among the national leaders in touchdown receptions (12) and receptions of 60+ yards (5)….finished the year with a team-high 963 yards while averaging 19.7 yards per catch….tallied six 100-yard receiving games, including a string of five straight.
Kansei Matsuzawa, Sr., Placekicker, Tokyo, Japan
Graduated in December with a degree in interdisciplinary studies…UH’s first-ever consensus All-American…Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year and Lou Groza Award finalist…set new UH records for single-season (27) and consecutive field goals made (26) and tied an FBS record by converting his first 25 field goals of the season.
Aiden McComber, So., Defensive Lineman, Las Vegas, Nevada
Majoring in human development & family studies…appeared in 11 regular-season games for the Rainbow Warriors…a key rotational member on a defensive line that served as the anchor of the UH defense..logged four tackles, including a sack and tackle-for-loss.
Josh Sagapolutele, So., Defensive Lineman, Waimanalo, O’ahu
Majoring in interdisciplinary studies…played in all 13 games…part of a UH defense that held five opponents to under 100 yards rushing and allowed only five second-half touchdowns at home all season.
Landon Sims, Sr., Running Back, Gig Harbor, Wash.
Earned his undergraduate degree in finance…currently pursuing a masters in finance…the team’s leading rusher the last two seasons, including 559 yards and three touchdowns in 2025…finished the season third on the team in all-purpose yards (831) on a team-leading 159 touches with five total touchdowns.
