The City of St. John’s is offering additional garbage collection for areas of the city where residents were unable to get their garbage to the curb yesterday.
Heavy snowfall overnight Sunday led many residents in areas like Kenmount Terrace to assume that there would be no garbage collection Monday morning – but to the shock of many, garbage collection went ahead.
Many were unable to get their garbage to the curb because their driveways weren’t cleared.
The city says the decision to go ahead with garbage collection is influenced by a number of factors, including wind conditions, and after careful review the decision was made to go ahead.
The city says residents were advised yesterday that another opportunity for garbage and recycling collection would go ahead today.
