BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Fresh off the heels of their first Patriot League win, Lehigh men’s basketball hits the road to face Colgate on Saturday at 6 p.m. from Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y.
Lehigh (5-11, 1-2 PL) and Colgate (9-7, 3-0 PL) split the season series in 2024-25, with both teams winning games on their home courts. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Raiders in the most recent matchup at Stabler Arena 94-68 on February 3 on CBS Sports Network. Colgate has the upper hand in the series in recent years, having won eight of the last ten meetings.
If Lehigh wins, head coach Brett Reed would win his 293rd game, putting him only seven away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins.
A career night from sophomore Edouard Benoit paved the way for Lehigh men’s basketball to pick up its first Patriot League win of the season over Holy Cross 66-58 at Stabler Arena on Wednesday evening. Benoit starred in only his third game back from injury, posting a career-high 22 points on 9-15 shooting and 4-7 from distance. The Canadian sophomore added five rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. Hank Alvey continued to be a force for the Mountain Hawks, scoring 20 points to go along with eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and an assist. Alvey is now averaging 22.3 points per game through the first three games of league play. Nasir Whitlock scored ten points while grabbing three steals to keep his double-digit scoring streak of 13 games alive.
Colgate enters Saturday’s game with a perfect 3-0 record in Patriot League play. The Raiders narrowly defeated American 64-62 on Wednesday after beating Lafayette and Army last week. After winning five of the past six Patriot League championships, Colgate was eliminated in the semifinal round by American last season. Jalen Cox leads the Raiders offensively at 15.9 points per game while Andrew Alekseyenko (14.1 ppg) and Sam Wright (12.9 ppg) also average double-figures.
Following Saturday’s game, Lehigh travels north to Boston, Massachusetts to take on Boston U. on Wednesday, January 14 at 6 p.m.
