Incubus vocalist Brandon Boyd has offered some clarity on his multi-platinum alternative rock band’s curiously absent ninth studio album “Something In The Water“. You may recall last spring that the group began teasing that release for an October release. Last April even saw Boyd indicate the album was finished and that a single was “coming shortly.”

As neither a single, nor the album did emerge, it’s been a bit of a lingering question for fans as to what happened. Speaking via his personal Instagram yesterday, January 08th, Boyd revealed that he and his bandmates decided to head back into the studio and write and record even more new material for the album. He stated:

“I’m thinking back on the year 2025 and I’m almost dizzy from its oscillations between agony and ecstasy. For some reason I sense many of you had similar experiences in 2025. The agonies have given rise to so much new art though, as soon to be demonstrated in our recently completed (again) new album. It’s a long story but we went back into the studio to write and record more after thinking we were done.

The ecstasies almost speak for themselves in the form of so many wonderful nights spent singing with so many of you around the world. I’ll pop back in soon and update you on when new music will be ready to share. Sending you all so much love and hope and may this new year be one of continued transformation and celebration. Happy New Year, Friends!”
