ATLANTA, GA – University of Maryland coaching legend Ralph Friedgen has been inducted into the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Hall of Fame, it was announced on Friday.

Friedgen was inducted alongside former college football head coaches Nick Saban and Tommy Tuberville, and Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and President Gary Stokan. Established in 2002, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Hall of Fame honors former players, coaches and contributors, as well as staff and volunteers, who have had a significant impact on the Bowl during its 58-year history.

Friedgen, who ranks third all-time at Maryland with 75 wins over 10 seasons, led the Terps to seven bowl games, including a pair of New Year’s Day appearances during his tenure. Under Friedgen’s guidance, the Terps won a school-record five bowl games.

After taking over, Friedgen immediately engineered a resurgence during his 2001 debut, leading Maryland to a 10-2 record, an ACC Championship and a berth in the Orange Bowl.

The following season, Maryland went 11-3 and posted a decisive 30-3 win over Tennessee in the 2002 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

During his first three seasons, Friedgen became the first coach in ACC history to post three straight 10-win campaigns, earning a sweep of national Coach of the Year honors, including The Dodd Trophy, in 2001 for Maryland’s remarkable rise. Over his decade at Maryland, he coached numerous All-Conference standouts and firmly established himself as one of the most respected offensive minds in the sport.
