Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Saturday 10/1/2026, discussed over the phone regional development and means of boosting bilateral relations.

During the phone call, the two sides highlighted the depth of historic and brotherly ties between Egypt and Jordan, expressing a mutual commitment to expanding cooperation in economic and investment sectors, alongside leveraging existing coordination mechanisms to serve the interests of both nations.

Abdelatty and Safadi stressed the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing its terms in accordance with US President Donald Trump’s plan.

They called for the sustainable delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, giving the green light to the second phase of the agreement, announcing the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the Strip, deploying an international stability force, and paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Both sides reiterated the importance of maintaining the territorial unity of Palestine’s West Bank and Gaza as well as linking stability efforts to a clear political horizon that achieves a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

They warned against the dangers of illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that risk undermining de-escalation efforts and realizing just peace based on the two-state solution.

Regarding the situation in Syria and Lebanon, the Egyptian and Jordanian top diplomats stressed the importance of achieving security in Syria alongside respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

They further underlined the necessity of halting Israeli aggression on Lebanon, expressing unwavering support for Lebanon’s security, stability, and national establishments.

Meanwhile, Abdelatty and Safai affirmed total rejection of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

They reaffirmed full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, describing it as a fundamental pillar for maintaining stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

The two sides underscored support for the de-escalation efforts in Yemen that aim to foster a Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue that ensures the nation’s security and meets the aspirations of its people
