Hilary Duff teased a new single with a video of her singing in a soaking wet butter yellow dress.
In her caption, the singer revealed that the song, titled “Roommates,” will drop on January 15.
Duff’s long-awaited return to music began with the release of “Mature” last November.
In case you missed it, the Hilary Duff renaissance is upon us. After releasing her first single in 10 years—aptly titled “Mature”—this past November, the Lizzie McGuire alum has returned to Instagram to tease her second track, “Roommates,” with a video of her singing in the rain. Fans, meanwhile, were immediately transported back to 2003’s “Come Clean.” Say it with me: Let the rain fall down, I’m coming clean.
“Roommates is yours Jan 15 7PM EST ✨🩵🛏️,” Duff wrote in her caption.

Duff wears a soaking wet and therefore completely sheer butter yellow dress in the video. She’s barefoot and there’s a mystery man lounging in the background while she sings. Also, they’re indoors.
“I want the highlights, 10 out of 10, the butterflies from holding your hand,” Duff croons, “Before we swept us under the bed, and we became practically roommates.”
As mentioned, “Mature” was Duff’s first single since 2015, when she released her album Breathe In. Breathe Out. “‘Mature’ is a little conversation that my present self is having with my younger self,” the actress said in a statement at the time, per People.
“The two of us are reflecting on a past experience and sending love to each other,” she continued. “It’s a chuckle, a wink and a sense of being grateful that we are sure footed in where we landed.”

In an interview with Jake Shane, the singer also noted that the music video for “Mature” has a subtle connection to her debut album Metamorphosis.
“There’s butterflies that are big themes in my life since Metamorphosis. And there’s a little sweet butterfly moment in the video, which I really love,” she said, adding, “I like all those little nods and those little gifts that you can send back to yourself to be like, ‘Hey, it was cool. We got here.’”
