COLLEGE PARK, MD — After falling at UCLA on Saturday, Maryland will close out its West Coast road swing on Tuesday night at USC. The game will tip at 10:30 PM ET (7:30 PM PT) and will be televised on FS1. Terp alum and current Milwaukee Brewers announcer Josh Maurer will call the action for the Maryland Sports Radio Network alongside Chris Knoche.
In this stretch of the month, Maryland will have four out of five games away from the XFINITY Center. The lone home game in that period will be against Penn State next Sunday before heading back on the road at Illinois and Michigan State. That stretch alone will be three games in seven days for the Terps.
The 2025-26 schedule has turned into one of Maryland’s toughest of all-time with four AP Top 25 teams in an early six-game stretch (Iowa was No. 25 in USA Today Coaches Poll, but receiving votes in AP Top Top 25 poll). The closest previously was Maryland’s 1955-56 schedule that had three straight AP ranked teams (#12 Kentucky, #11 North Carolina, No. 16 Michigan State) and then No. 7 George Washington in an early six-game stretch.
The 10 games featuring AP-ranked opponents on the regular-season schedule marks the most for a single season since facing 12 in 2003-04.
The Terps have had a total of 36 games missed this year due to injury including leading scorer Pharrel Payne (17.5ppg) who has missed the last five after being injured against Michigan.
Series History
The Terps are 4-0 all-time against USC after last season’s 88-71 win in College Park.
This will mark just the second time the two programs have met in Los Angeles. The Terps earned a 64-62 road win in the only other West Coast meeting back in 1990.

Solo Making An Impact
After missing the first eight games of the season due to injury, Solomon Washington has given a veteran presence to the line-up since his return at the start of December. The senior is averaging 9.8 points and 9.4 rebounds in his eight games played.
Washington made his Maryland debut on Dec. 2 against Wagner where he had 10 points and six rebounds.
He had his first double-double as a Terp with 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Old Dominion. That marked the second straight game he had double-figure rebounds (12 vs. Virginia).
He added his second double-double of the year with a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds against Oregon.
Washington is looking to average a double-double for a season for the 23rd time in program history dating back to 1954-55 and the first since Jalen Smith in 2019-20.

Saunders With Strong Back-to-Back Games …
Elijah Saunders earned his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds at UCLA. That marked the third overall of his career.
In the two game stretch of Indiana (1/7) and UCLA (1/10), Saunders averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 11-of-21 (523) from the field.
Overall, Saunders has six games in double-figure scoring and two with 10-or-more rebounds.

Palpable Buzz
Buzz Williams was named head coach at Maryland on April 2, 2025 after re-building Texas A&M into a program that reached three consecutive NCAA Tournaments. For his career, he seeking to become one of just three NCAA Division I head coaches to post 100 career wins at four different institutions – Maryland Hall of Fame Coach Lefty Driesell and Steve Alford.
Williams is one of 12 active Division I head coaches to win at least one NCAA Tournament game at three different programs. He’s coached in 23 NCAA Tournament games, winning 12, both of which rank among the Top 25 among all Division I head coaches.
In 2024-25, Buzz Williams earned his 100th win at Texas A&M with a 77-73 victory over Creighton (11/27). He joined Tennessee’s Rick Barnes as the only head coaches to win 100+ games at three power conference schools.
