MUNCIE, Ind. — Junior Reese Samuelson matched her career-high bars score as the Western Michigan gymnastics team wrapped up a tri-meet against Ball State and Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. 

Samuelson earned a 9.875 and finished second overall in the event. As a team, the Broncos fell to the host Cardinals 194.275-193.025 and to the Scarlet Knights 194.975-193.025. For Samuelson, it matched her career-best mark that she recorded twice during the 2025 season. 

As a team, bars was Western Michigan’s strongest event on the day with a combined score of 48.650. Reilan Garvey had a 9.800, while Aliyah Kelly was WMU’s third-best bars performer with a 9.700. Amy Robins with a 9.675 and Julie Korfhage with a 9.600 rounded out the scoring for the Broncos. 

Freshmen Casey Mooney and Isabella Ciolfi were the team’s top performers on beam, both scoring a 9.750. Mooney and Kennedy Cooper had WMU’s top scores on vault, both scoring 9.725. Brooke Gelesko scored a 9.750 on floor to top the team.

Western Michigan is back on the road next Sunday, traveling to Central Michigan to open Mid-American Conference play.Â
