If I could only shop at one store for the rest of my life — which would be challenging, because I have a serious shopping addiction — it would be Mimi & Rae in Old Town La Quinta. Womenswear from this boutique, owned by the mother-daughter team of Mimi and Raechel Lawhon, has become a staple in my wardrobe, and my mom’s. All their pieces are trendy yet timeless, incredibly well-made, and so versatile that both young-adult and older customers feel fabulous in them.
The store itself, located in Old Town La Quinta, is easy to shop. You won’t find overcrowded racks here. Everything is displayed and styled with intention, making it easy to find what you’re looking for (or had no idea you needed). It’s the kind of store you visit for more than a new pair of jeans or a perfect white T-shirt. You can build an entire outfit, complete with shoes and accessories, all in one place.
The cherries on top are the store’s owners, Mimi and her daughter, Rae. They always greet customers with excitement and smiles, and within seconds have pieces ready in the dressing room they know will look amazing on you. They take the stress away from shopping, and I always leave eager to return.
