Samsung has been testing One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 for over a month now. Besides improving the skin, the company is also simultaneously updating many of its popular Good Lock modules with additional features. As part of this, the latest Lock Star update for One UI 8.5 adds support for lock screen unlock animation customization.

With One UI 8, Samsung gave its Home Up Good Lock module a major upgrade, allowing you to customize almost every aspect of the system and home screen animation. The latest Lock Star release builds on this and adds “Unlock Animations” effects.

You can now essentially change the unlock animation on your Galaxy phone. Like the Home Up module, it’s possible to tweak the animation type, time, shape, and its linearity.

Most users may not care about this improvement, but if you love customizing almost every aspect of your Galaxy phone, the latest Lock Star module opens up one more aspect for tweaking.

There’s another notable improvement in the latest LockStar release: the ability to adjust the AOD brightness manually on compatible models.

By default, in automatic mode, the display is relatively bright. But you can turn off the toggle and manually set a lower brightness.

Install One UI 8.5 beta to unlock these Good Lock features early

Unfortunately, both these improvements are only available on One UI 8.5. And that means only Galaxy S25 users enrolled in the One UI 8.5 beta program can enjoy these new Lock Star enhancements. While you can install the latest Lock Star release on your Galaxy phone running One UI 8, these options will not show up.

The update should already be live on Galaxy Store, but if it doesn’t appear for you, sideload it manually by downloading the APK from here.

It appears Samsung will focus on giving its Good Lock modules a big upgrade with One UI 8.5.

A One UI 8.5-compatible Camera Assistant build rolled out less than a month ago added several new features, including adding granular camera controls to the regular photo mode and an option to set a minimum shutter speed to help reduce motion blur.
