HONOLULU – The third-ranked University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team took both matches of a doubleheader against Roberts Wesleyan and Rockhurst, Wednesday, at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Warriors (5-1) will play both teams again in another doubleheader on Friday with the Rockhurst match at 11:00 a.m. and Roberts Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m.
 
Match #2: Hawai’i 3, Rockhurst 0
In the nightcap, Hawai’i completed the doubleheader sweep with a 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13 victory over Rockhurst.
 
Kristian Titriyski and Adrien Roure combined for 30 kills to lead the Warriors. Roure added five aces and seven digs and Titriyski tallied six digs and three blocks. Louis Sakanoko added nine kills and three blocks.
 
UH hit .382 for the match compared to .167 for Rockhurst. The Warriors served a season-high 10 aces and out-blocked the Hawks, 8.5 to 8.0.
 
Shay Spadaro, Will Sutphen, and Lucan Tran each had eight kills to lead the Hawks (1-3). Setter Nathan Jacques dished out 28 assists along with three aces, five digs, and three blocks.
 
The Hawks hung tough for the better part of the first two sets and finally broke through in the third, hitting .444 in the frame while UH committed six attack errors and hit .250 to send the match to a fourth set.
 
It was all Hawai’i in the fourth, as the Warriors hit .500 and held the Hawks to -.034.
 
Match #1: Hawai’i 3, Roberts Wesleyan 0
Earlier in the day, UH took the opening match of its day-night doubleheader against Roberts Wesleyan, winning in straight-sets, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16.
 
UH hit .410 in a match that saw most of its reserves play the entire match. Kainoa Wade led the way with a career-high 21 kills, hitting .514 in 35 attempts. The Kailua, O’ahu native also tallied five digs, two aces, and one block.
 
Outside hitters Thatcher Fahlbusch made his UH debut and finished with six kills, one ace, and two digs. Fellow outside hitter Finn Kearney also posted six kills in 11 errorless attempts and five digs. Magnus Hettervik made his first start at setter and finished with 22 assists and six digs before giving way to Victor Lowe, who added 14 assists and directed the offense to a .462 clip in the third set.
 
Kai Taylor started at libero and recorded nine digs. Middle blocker Ofeck Hazan posted five digs and three blocks.
 
Ryan DeJohn led the Redhawks (2-1) with eight kills and six digs. As a team, Roberts Wesleyan hit .185 with four aces and 4.5 team blocks.
