Palestinian Foreign Minister and Minister for Expatriates Dr Farsin Shaheen said the Palestinian Presidency has welcomed the move to enter the second phase of the Gaza agreement.

In an interview with Cairo News Channel, Shaheen said the immediate priority is for the committee tasked with administering Gaza to begin its work on the ground and start relief and recovery operations.

She added: “It is possible to start developing plans for reconstruction, but at the moment there are urgent needs that must be met to respond to what the Palestinian people want, after they have suffered greatly for more than two years.”

Shaheen continued: “What is required today from everyone is to support this committee, and above all for the sponsor of the agreement to ensure that the conditions on the ground are suitable for the committee to carry out its work.”

She stressed that more than ever, Israel must meet its obligations under the agreement so that the committee can fulfil its responsibilities, noting that these responsibilities are very large because people have high expectations.
