Ther LExar GO SL400 Portable SSD comes with a clever dock that has extra USB-C ports for powering your phone and attaching accessories like a wireless mic or LED light.

LEXAR

At CES 2026, Lexar unveiled its new GO Portable SL400 and Air SL260 SSDs for content creators. The media is now getting a first glimpse at the initial batch of products to evaluate their performance and determine how these devices can help content creators capture more content using gimbals, drones and smartphones.

The Lexar GO Portable SL400 SSD has read speeds up to 1050MB/s and write speeds of 1000MB/s, thanks to its USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. That’s fast enough to handle ProRes 4K video from an iPhone 17 Pro without dropping any frames. Available in capacities of 1TB and 2TB, the GO SL400 has sufficient space for storing plenty of video content.

The LExar GO SL400 SSD can plug directly into the USB-C port of and Android device or Apple iPhone.

LEXARPlugs Directly Into iPhones

Lexar describes its new GO Portable SSD as “the ultimate in portable storage.” The device is designed to plug directly into a smartphone’s USB-C port. The GO weighs a mere 12g, which means it’s light enough to use on a drone or smartphone without causing any weight issues.

The Lexar GO Portable SSD has a dust and water-resistant rating of IP65, plus it can resist a drop from a height of one meter and comes with a protective silicone case. It’s also supplied with a clever docking station that extends the versatility of the SSD.

The docking station has a pass-through USB port for an external power source to keep a smartphone going during an extended shooting session. The docking station also has a USB-C extension port for the SSD and two more ports for accessories such as a wireless microphone.

With its docking station, the Lexar GO SL400 turns into an effective video rig with less that 20g of additional weight and up to 2TB of storage.

The Lexar Air SL260 SSD will be available later this year and comes in Black and Aqua Blue with capacities of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. No pricing info is available yet.

LEXARLight As A Feather

The second product Lexar announced at CES 2026 for content creators must be one of the lightest external SSDs on the market. The Lexar Air SL260 weighs a mere 19g and is lighter even than the handy USB-C cable it ships with. The cable has a neat clip-on USB-A adapter so the SSD can be used with legacy devices.

The Air SSD has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, which is not as fast as the Lexar GO Portable SSD, but it can still transfer 1GB of data in a second. Despite its slightly slower-paced interface, the Lexar Air can manage read speeds of up to 390MB/s and write speeds of 400MB/s.

Despite it’s light weight, the Lexar Air SL260 feels robust and should withstand life on the road.

LEXARVersatile SSD

This drive isn’t designed for the same kind of high-speed applications as the Lexar GO Portable SSD, but it’s suitable for storing photos, videos, documents and the other kinds of assets you might want to gather while on a video shoot.

Measuring just 5 x 7cm, the Lexar Air is small enough to slip into the ticket pocket of a pair of jeans or it can be tucked into the side pocket of a gadget bag when shooting videos. The Air is available in capacities of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, which should be enough for most people’s needs when working on location.

Like most of Lexar’s storage products, the Lexar GO and Lexar Air include free data recovery tools in the unlikely event you accidentally erase your precious content. Add a three-year warranty into the mix and a choice of Black or Aqua Blue finishes and you have a pocket-sized storage device smaller than a box of matches.
