It’s one thing to be hip-checked straight into the zeitgeist—it’s quite another to do so as a horological influencer. It seems like Connor Storrie, the 25-year-old breakout star of Heated Rivalry, has figured out how to do both.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Storrie wore the IWC Portofino Complete Calendar, a large, contemporary take on a relatively little-seen complication. While annual and perpetual calendars are all the rage, “complete” (or “triple”) calendars are less common. Requiring manual adjustment at the end of each month, they’ve largely been superseded by their more sophisticated brethren. A handful of manufacturers still offer them, however, which is a welcome thing considering the eye-watering MSRPs of annual and perpetual calendars.

The Portofino Complete Calendar—which is part of a dressy collection introduced by IWC in 1984—measures 41mm in 18K 5N yellow gold. At nearly 12mm thick, it doesn’t possess the wafer-thin proportions of, say, a Piaget or the diminutive loveliness of a vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava, but that’s not really the point. The ref. IW359002 may feature pocket watch-influenced aesthetics, but it’s a thoroughly modern timepiece with modern proportions, ideal for someone with a larger wrist who wants a dressy, complicated piece to wear on evenings out…or on late-night TV.
Featuring a silver-plated dial, the Complete Calendar boasts an unusual “up-down” display: Below 12 o’clock is a combination moonphase and day indicator, while above 6 o’clock is a combination date and month indicator. Finished with applied gold hour indices and a matching gold leaf handset, it’s powered by IWC’s cal. 32150 automatic movement, which provides 72 hours of power reserve and is visible via the caseback. At $23,700, this is no entry-level selection, but it’s (relatively) more accessible than the brand’s perpetual calendar models, let alone IWC’s mind-bending Eternal Calendar, which lists for nearly $200K.
And if you need further proof that Storrie has become inculcated with a healthy respect for haute horlogerie, you should note that the ref. 32150 isn’t the only high-end watch that he’s worn recently: Just this week, he also rocked a more complicated IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Watch on The Today Show, a Tiffany & Co. Union Square at The Golden Globes, and, earlier in January, a Hublot Classic Fusion King Gold 38mm to the 32nd Annual Actor Awards Nominations at SAG-AFTRA. At this rate, it’s only a matter of time before we find him nursing a beer at a RedBar meeting or roaming the halls of Watches and Wonders. We’d tell him to watch out for the legions of adoring fans, but let’s be real—they’ll probably be at the IWC booth, noses pressed up against the glass.
