Cardi B has revealed the tracklist for her anticipated sophomore album, Am I The Drama? set to drop at midnight (Sept. 19). Standing at 23 tracks, the project promises a star-studded lineup including everyone from Lizzo to R&B/Pop icon Janet Jackson.
The LP features standouts like “Dead” and “Shower Tears,” both featuring Summer Walker, “Safe” with Kehlani, “Better Than You” with Cash Cobain, and “Nice Guy” with Tyla. Above all, “Principal” might be the most anticipated collab as she was able to secure the “Pleasure Principle” icon, herself.
AITD also has cuts like the circulating songs, “Bodega Baddie” and “Imaginary Playerz,” as well as interesting titles like “Man of Your Word,” which could be an ode to her divorce with Offset, and the return of “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.
The inclusion of dated tracks, “WAP” and “Up” moved critics to call out Cardi’s alleged “strategy” to have her new album automatically hit Platinum status, as “WAP” is already 8x Platinum and “Up” is 2x Platinum. The tracks came out in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
The “Jealousy” rapper went to X to set the record straight and put the criticism to rest once and for all. “This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this… ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home,” she wrote.
The tracklist announcement caps off a nostalgic and playful rollout that has fans buzzing. Cardi fully embraced that old-school grind in New York City, hitting the streets to sell physical copies of her album and even putting on skits in the subway. Clips of her hustling CDs out of a candy box and taking over a street corner quickly went viral, as well as her personal meet-and-greet signings of her project.
Am I The Drama? marks Cardi’s first full-length album in seven years, following her 2018 Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy. That project became the first album to have every single track go platinum or higher, thanks to hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
