It sounds like Marvel Studios will be swinging for the fences with Avengers: Doomsday from the moment the movie begins.

According to John Campea, Doomsday will be Marvel‘s most ambitious movie to date. “The sheer amount and volume of action in this thing, when you’re talking about minutes on screen and scope, it’s going to blow away anything Marvel has ever done,” he revealed on his YouTube show, The John Campea Show.

MCU fans are not ready for Avengers: Doomsday’s epic opening

“No spoilers. The two greatest comic book movie openings ever are X-Men 2, with Nightcrawler attacking the White House, and Batman v Superman, with Bruce Wayne in Gotham as the battle between Zod and Superman is destroying Gotham. I think those are the two greatest openings of comic book movies ever,” shared Campea.

The YouTuber continued, “It all depends on how it executes. I think the opening sequence of Doomsday is going to eclipse those. People are going to lose their minds.”

Marvel Studios has been extremely secretive with Avengers: Doomsday. So far, only one major casting announcement and four teaser trailers have been released by the studio. There is still much unknown about the movie, although some fans believe the teasers have been leaving behind secret messages.

Doomsday will take place 14 months after Thunderbolts*, following the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men as they team up to face Doctor Doom.

Robert Downey Jr. will portray Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom in Doomsday, as well as its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars. The actor is also expected, via unconfirmed reports, to be reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the movie.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday is released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
