Netflix has confirmed the release date of Season 8 of the successful Drive to Survive docuseries. The new season will revisit the exciting 2025 Formula 1 season, which saw Lando Norris in a tight fight against rival and four-time champion Max Verstappen as well as his own team-mate Oscar Piastri

The next instalment of the series will arrive on the streaming platform on 27 February, ahead of the start of the 2026 F1 season. Timed to make sure fans of the championship are warmed up for the long 24-race campaign, Season 8 will look back at what 2025 had to offer.

As usual, the production will unpack both on-track and off-track storylines.

Once again, the docuseries will stream exclusively on Netflix, providing behind-the-scenes context to what we saw during race weekends across the year. Making things more interesting, this will be the final Drive to Survive series to feature the ground effect-designed cars.

It’s likely the main storyline will revolve around the fight for the drivers’ championship that ended with a two-point margin, but Red Bull’s driver and team principal drama and Lewis Hamilton making his Ferrari debut will likely be central talking points, too. On top of that, the highly successful F1 movie will possibly receive a mention, although with it being hosted by a competing streaming service (Apple), maybe it won’t.

On top of this, Nico Hulkenberg’s podium win will be the heartwarming story of the season.

Drive to Survive Season 8 will go live on Netflix on 27 February. The 2026 season will begin shortly after with the Australian Grand Prix weekend commencing on 6 March.
