New York City Mayor Zohran Mammadani has reiterated his opposition to purchasing Israeli bonds, stating: “We don’t purchase bonds for debt of any other sovereign nation.” His comments followed a statement by the city’s new comptroller Mark Levine, who expressed intention to resume purchasing bonds – a practice that was almost completely discontinued under his predecessor Brad Lander. “The comptroller clarified his position, and I continue to stand by mine,” Mammadani explained.
