Elazar Vigdorovich from the Gur Hasidic sect admitted to attempting to illegally enter the United States and was sentenced to about two weeks of suspended imprisonment. Following the hearing before a federal judge, the 33-year-old Israeli was handed over to U.S. Immigration authorities, who are expected to return him to Israel. Vigdorovich was caught on January 8 trying to cross from Canada into the U.S. over Niagara Falls, hidden in the trunk of a car driven by a lawyer from Bnei Brak. The investigation revealed that his entry visa was revoked back in 2017, after he served four years in prison in Israel for assault, extortion, false imprisonment, forgery and drug smuggling.
