Who is Mikaël Kingsbury: everything you need to know about the freestyle skiing star

The 33-year-old is a true moguls legend.

He has bagged a record 143 World Cup podiums so far, plus 100 World Cup wins.

Kingsbury is all about records and is dubbed ‘the Wayne Gretzky of moguls’ – quite the achievement for such a massive ice hockey fan. He registered no fewer than 13 podium finishes in 13 races when he won his first World Cup in 2012 and had 19 podium finishes in a row between 2011 and 2013.

The reason why he has set so many records is partly due to his precocity. He competed in his first-ever World Cup in 2010, aged 17, two years before he became the youngest moguls athlete ever to win the overall World Cup ranking.

Not only has he won nine consecutive World Cups but he also won four moguls World Championships – including three consecutive titles in 2019, 2021 and 2023 – as well as five dual moguls (which will feature at the Olympic Winter Games for the first time at Milano Cortina 2026) World Championships – including four consecutive titles in 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025.

He won the biggest of his career – Olympic gold – at PyeongChang 2018, finishing more than four points ahead of Australia’s Matt Graham with a total of 86.63. At Sochi 2014, he finished second behind compatriot Alexandre Bilodeau.
