Rumpke Waste & Recycling said it will operate on a one-day delay for the rest of the week.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Refuse Collection is making trash pickups as scheduled on Monday, the city said.

Residents with Monday as their collection day are advised to set out their containers with snow cleared around it.

Trash trucks may work slower than usual but will attempt to make all collections, the city said.

If a container is set out and missed, residents can contact the 311 Service Center for pickup the following day.

Rumpke Waste & Recycling will suspend trash and recycling collection Monday in Columbus and surrounding areas due to the winter weather and road conditions. 

Customers are encouraged to visit Rumpke.com for service updates in their area.

The company said trash will be collected for Monday customers on Tuesday and end with Friday customers on Saturday.

Rumpke’s facilities, including area offices, will be also closed to the public on Monday.

A major winter storm moved across the central, southern and eastern United States. Parts of Central Ohio picked up over 16″ of snow this weekend from the storm.

Once all is said and done by Monday morning, 12-16″ of snow appears likely for the Columbus metro and much of central Ohio.

Not only has this been the biggest storm of the season, it is also now the fifth biggest storm ever in Columbus!


How cold will it be this week?

In addition to the snow, subzero temperatures are expected for the next week, potentially through the end of January. This drop in temperatures will again bring widespread and prolonged subzero wind chills to the whole region. 

Wind chill values will likely be within the -10 to -20 range most of Monday morning and especially Tuesday morning. Subzero morning wind chills will remain likely for at least the next seven days. Along with this, each of the next seven days will remain under a Weather Impact Alert for the extreme cold.
