‘The Bear’ Season 5: 15 Fan Theories & Predictions

🚨WARNING: This article contains spoilers for The Bear Season 4. Proceed at your own risk!🚨

Season 5 of The Bear may be a ways away still, but it’s never too early to start predicting what messy storylines the show will cook up.

Last season ended with the bombshell news that Carmy is writing himself out of the partnership agreement and leaving the restaurant in the hands of Syd, Richie, Sugar, and Uncle Jimmy.

Naturally, the surprise ending gave viewers plenty to chew on. Here are 15 of the most intriguing fan theories and predictions, courtesy of r/TheBear:

1.

“Sydney becomes head chef of the bear and becomes what Carmy was. Paradoxically, Carmy heals and runs a catering business and becomes what Sydney was. Both are happier now.”

2.

“In a twist, the sandwich portion of The Bear ends up winning the Michelin Star in the final season. A fitting homage to how culturally-significant, street-level dishes can be recognized as prestigious cuisine. It would also be a touching tribute to Mikey.”

3.

“I still predict people are going to die: ‘I worked at a restaurant once. Many people died.'”

4.

“Carmy stepping away from The Bear to just run one small The Beef spot would actually be a really nice end to his story. He rejects fine dining for his mental health, but rediscovers his love of cooking through making simple beef sandwiches and fries.”

5.

“My personal conspiracy theory is that every time someone claims that The Bear isn’t a comedy, the Faks get more ridiculous, and every time someone complains the Faks are ridiculous, they add a new one.”

6.

“My fanfiction [is] that Carm would be a stakeholder in The Bear, but has irons in multiple different fires. He would stroll into The Bear and come up with menu ideas or cook whenever he wanted, and he would also put out illustrative books related to cooking and food. Maybe be a private chef for a while. But first, he needs to help Syd get her star.”

7.

“Each of the seasons are supposed to represent a different stage of the grief process.”

8.

“Syd and Luca as a couple seems totally plausible, and it seems obvious that the writers are setting that up.”

9.

“Marcus will use the money from selling his mother’s house [to] help expand the sandwich shop.”

10.

“The worlds of The Bear and Burnt are in the same [universe]. The Bear even seems to adopt the made-up idea that a fork on the floor meant that Michelin has come to town.”

11.

“The Bear gets not one, but two stars. Carmy reads the news and smiles, and then goes back to making dinner at home for a pregnant Claire.”

12.

“I’ve seen some good theories that Carmy will get into farming/gardening somehow because of the supply issues the restaurant is having. And Carmy looked so happy at Noma where they grow their own food. Also, there was a plant in a lot of scenes this season. Obnoxious sized ones in some spots. Maybe those are clues, like the tomato cans?”

13.

“Carmy goes to art school.”

14.

“The bear in the first episode never reappears. The sandwiches are made out of bear meat.”

15.

And lastly: “Carmy will discover he has an extraordinary ability to tell when people are lying. He will leave The Bear and embark on a journey across the country working different jobs, solving various murders and making friends along the way.”
