Foreign ministers from 11 countries strongly condemned Israel’s demolition of UNRWA headquarters (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees) in East Jerusalem. They claimed it was an “unprecedented act” by a UN member state against a UN agency, constituting a “severe violation” of UNRWA’s ability to operate. In their statement, the foreign ministers expressed full support for UNRWA’s activities, which they defined as “vital and irreplaceable.” The countries that signed the statement: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Britain.
