Heptathlon

Katarina Johnson-Thompson’s defence of her world heptathlon title reaches a conclusion with the final three events, the long jump, the javelin and the 800 metres

 The men’s decathlon gets underway with the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m.

Men’s and women’s 4 x 400m and 4 x 100m heats

It’s a busy night for the relay teams with the men and women’s 4 x 400m and 4 x 100m heats. After Great Britain won gold in all 4 events at the Paris Olympic last summer, hopes are high for more medals, but they will have to reach tomorrow’s finals first. 

Women’s 5000m final

After winning a historic fourth world 1500m title, can Faith Kipyegon with a 5000m gold?

Men’s 800m final

The penultimate night concludes with the final of the men’s 800m. Emmanuel Wanyonyi is the favourite to add a world title to the Olympic gold he won last summer but Great Britain’s Max Burgin could be fighting for a place on the podium.

Day 8 Highlights 

It’s the penultimate day at the World Athletics Championships and Sarah Mulkerins has highlights of all the action. Can Katarina Johnson-Thompson defend the title she won in Budapest 2 years ago? It’s the javelin and the 800 metres to finish her campaign. After winning medals in all 4 relay finals at the Paris Olympics, Great Britain will be confident of more in Tokyo.

They 4 x 400m and 4 x 100m teams will have to get through the heats first. And there are gold medals to be handed out in the field in the women’s shot put and javelin whilst on the track it’s the final of the women’s 5,000m featuring Faith Kipyegon and the men’s 800m final.
