President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric said that “states need to harness the momentum created to improve the severe humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.” According to her, “all states and parties to the conflict have an obligation to ensure that the limitations and protections, enshrined in international humanitarian law, are maintained. This is essential to protect human lives, restore human dignity and lay the foundations on which lasting peace can be built.”
