The Israel Defense Forces said the deployment had been planned in advance and is consistent with ongoing joint exercises and coordination with the United States.

The visit comes amid heightened tensions over Iran. According to a report in The New York Times, President Donald Trump has recently been presented with a range of potential military options against Iran, including targeted strikes on nuclear and missile facilities and possible raids by U.S. forces inside Iranian territory. One scenario reportedly discussed involves commando operations to neutralize undamaged nuclear sites. Other options could target Iranian military and leadership installations in an effort to destabilize the regime, though officials cautioned about uncertainties over succession and potential diplomatic outcomes.
