Somaliland expects to reach a trade deal with Israel soon and is ready to grant it access to mineral deposits. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi said in an interview with Reuters, adding: ‘We haven’t reached a deal yet, but we expect to sign it soon. Currently there is no trade or investment from Israel but we hope for it. Somaliland is a country very rich in resources – minerals, oil, gas and more – Israel needs them.’ Abdullahi noted that in return he will ask for access to Israeli technology. Abdullahi said he accepted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s invitation and will visit Israel soon.
