GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The nationally ranked Florida women’s swimming & diving program welcomes freestyle specialist Carla Serra to its 2026-27 roster. From Canet en Roussillon, France, Serra will join the Gators for the Fall 2026 semester.
“Carla’s humility and gratitude towards the opportunity to be a gator really stuck out to us during the recruiting process,” said Associate Head Coach Kristin Walker. “She will be a big addition to our distance group!”
Serra brings a strong international résumé to Gainesville, having competed at a high level throughout her junior career for France. She has consistently posted top finishes at the national level, most recently recording three top-five performances at the 2025 France Junior National Championships in Dec. 2025. Serra was crowned the 800-meter freestyle champion and placed third in the 1,500m free and fifth in the 400m free.
Serra is the fifth freshman for the Gators’ 2026-27 season as the women signed two freshmen in November, Maelin Bessard last month and Bomin Kim this past Monday.
Why Carla Serra chose the University of Florida:
“I chose the University of Florida for the excellence of its swimming program, the quality of the coaching staff and the competitive environment which allows me to balance academic and high-level athletics.”
