Philip Weston, a fifth‑generation farmer from Hartwell, Northamptonshire, who has been involved in weekly blockades since the start of the year, previously said the protests were intended to “bring about a realisation that trade deals don’t take into account British farmers, and allowing this influx of food from abroad is impacting prices [in the UK]”.
