The next installment of the Have Camera, Will Travel photography presentation series will be hosted by Margie Jamieson at Centre 64 at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Centre 64.
Jamieson’s will present photos and stories from her adventure to western Mongolia last fall, where she and a group of friends travelled on horseback with nomads in the Steppe.
“We travelled with two eagle hunters along ridges in the foothills of the Alti Mountains to hunt foxes with eagles as these people have been doing for thousands of years,” Jamieson said. “The finale of the trip was to see an eagle festival where locals competed with there eagles and on horseback. An experience of another culture that has deep history in a wild and wonderful place on the toughest ponies on earth.”
Proceeds from this event will go towards Flagstaff International Relief Effort (FIRE), a non-profit organization that is successfully working on providing vaccinations for the nomadic population to prevent against Hepatitis A and B, which are endemic in the population.
