Shir Matias, a resident of Kibbutz Holit who survived the October 7 massacre and lost her parents, said at a demonstration calling for a state commission of inquiry that “I am an orphan because the government of Israel abandoned my parents. The state failed and the one who leads it is lying to all of us. Lying to the bereaved families. I hear him talking about victory and I only see graves. Instead of establishing a state commission of inquiry, he’s whitewashing. Those who fear investigation know what will be revealed. A state that does not investigate the greatest disaster in its history is a state destined for the next disaster.”
