The Israeli bobsled team’s apartment in the Milan Cortina Winter Games was robbed on Saturday, a member of the team announced in a post on X/Twitter.

Adam “AJ” Edelman, the bobsled team‘s pilot, posted that “thousands of dollars of stuff and passports” were taken from the team’s apartment while they were training. In a later post, he specified that the stolen items included suitcases, shoes, and equipment.

According to the Associated Press, Edelman was not at the robbery site, but the team’s coach, Itamar Shprinz, was.

Edelman said that the team’s response to the robbery was “such a fine example of how we push forward in difficult circumstances,” saying that they went right back to training after it occurred.

“I really believe this team exemplifies the Israeli spirit,” he wrote.

AP also stated that Edelman is believed to be the first Orthodox Jew to compete in the Winter Games, while another member of the team, Ward Fawarseh, is believed to be the first Druze Olympian.
