The northern convoy, beginning in the Arab city of Shfaram, will pass Caesarea and the Latrun Interchange and is projected to arrive at the Knesset in Jerusalem at noon.

“We want to raise a great outcry about the severe distress of Arab society,” former Knesset member and current chairman of the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, Dr.Jamal Zahalka, told Walla.

“People are murdered…every day. Our entire society lives in fear of organized crime, which, due to neglect [from the State of Israel], has become a state within a state.

Zahalka is expected to meet with Mazen Ghnaim, the mayor of Sakhnin, a city where the current wave of protests has gained considerable momentum, according to the Walla report. The two will read a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and intend to deliver it to him before he leaves for Washington, DC.

The death toll in Israel’s Arab sector has risen to at least 36 since the start of 2026. Several protests were held nationwide throughout January, calling for the Israeli government and security establishment to assert control over deadly organized crime.

The surge in violent crime is attributed to organized crime groups fighting turf battles and attempting to eliminate rivals. Arab criminal organizations have been involved in extortion, money laundering, and trafficking in weapons, drugs, and women.

Critics argue the crime wave has worsened since Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right politician, became National Security Minister in 2022.
