ASRock has just posted new beta BIOSes for many of its AM5 motherboards, including X670, B650, A620, B850, and X870, on its beta BIOS channel. The description of these boards’ beta BIOS mentions a fix for a boot failure that occurred when paired with certain CPUs.

Updating to the latest beta BIOS will also bring better memory compatibility and update the AGESA version to ComboAM5 PI 1.3.0.0a.

ASRock’s beta BIOS channel says the latest V4.07.AS01 beta BIOS fixes a boot failure that occurred when ASRock AM5 boards were paired with certain CPU configurations. However, the company didn’t acknowledge which processors are affected. ASRock also didn’t have a press release, so you have to assume all three AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series could be affected by the boot failure issue.

While it is good to see ASRock fixing boot issues for some users, the most problematic issue at the moment is the dead CPU reports circling on Reddit threads, where it is claimed that AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors are dying on ASRock motherboards. These reports have been coming in for a while now, and ASRock has finally responded.

In an official statement, ASRock stated:

ASRock is closely monitoring recent discussions regarding the performance and behavior of AMD Ryzenâ„¢ 9000 series processors on ASRock AMD platforms. In response to these reports, we have implemented comprehensive internal reviews and rigorous verification processes. We have been working in seamless coordination with AMD continuously to further validate system performance across a wide range of hardware configurations, while optimizing BIOS and enhancing overall system stability.

Therefore, even though the boot issues have been fixed by the latest beta BIOS, more such BIOSes could be in the works to prevent future Ryzen 9000 series CPUs from dying.
