Mushroomhead‘s long and winding history has seen dozens of musicians pass through its ranks, so it’s hardly surprising that former members occasionally reconnect. What is surprising is just how close The Ex-Faces are coming to functioning as a full-blown classic-era Mushroomhead revival.
Originally unveiled as a six-piece, The Ex-Faces have now expanded to seven members with the addition of bassist Jack “Pig Benis” Kilcoyne, further cementing the project’s deep ties to Mushroomhead’s formative years.
Kilcoyne’s involvement is particularly significant. He held down bass duties in Mushroomhead from 1995 through 2012, making him one of the longest-tenured members in the band’s history. Even better for longtime fans, his return adds an extra layer of lore: Jack famously replaced his brother Joe “Mr. Murdernickel” Kilcoyne on bass during his original run with the band.
Now, in a full-circle twist, the Kilcoyne brothers will be sharing bass duties for The Ex-Faces’ upcoming shows — an insider moment that feels tailor-made for diehards who’ve followed Mushroomhead through its many lineup shifts. The confirmed lineup for The Ex-Faces now includes:
Waylon Reavis (vocals)
Jason “J Mann” Popson (vocals)
Dave “Gravy” Felton (guitars)
Joe “Mr. Murdernickel” Kilcoyne (bass)
Jack “Pig Benis” Kilcoyne (bass)
Daniel “Lil’ Dan” Fox (drums)
Rick “St1tch” Thomas (samples, keyboards, etc.)
The Ex-Faces have the following shows lined up.
4/16 Flint, MI The Machine Shop
4/17 Flint, MI The Machine Shop
4/18 Columbus, OH The King Of Clubs
4/19 Columbus, OH The King Of Clubs
